How Starburst's Expanding Wilds Work
The expanding wild is the heart of this slot. There's no bonus buy and no elaborate side game, so almost everything interesting happens when the Starburst wild symbol lands.
What the wild does
When a wild appears on a reel, it expands to cover the whole reel and stays in place. As a wild, it substitutes for the regular gem and bar symbols to complete winning lines. A fully covered reel makes line wins much more likely on that spin.
Why it triggers a re-spin
Every expansion also awards a re-spin with the wild locked on its reel. That's where the slot builds momentum, because the held reel keeps feeding into new combinations. The next section covers how those re-spins chain together.
Starburst has no free spins round and no multiplier feature. Expanding wilds and re-spins are the whole bonus system, and the maximum win is 500x the stake.
Re-spins: Up to Three in a Row
A re-spin is a free extra spin that fires when a wild expands. The reels with wilds stay locked while the others spin again. Because new wilds can land during a re-spin, the sequence can continue, up to a maximum of three in a row.
- A wild lands and expands over its reel.
- The wild locks and the other reels spin again as a free re-spin.
- If another wild lands, it expands too and can trigger a further re-spin.
- After the third re-spin in the sequence, the reels return to normal play.
The cap keeps the game predictable. You won't see endless chains, but a run of three re-spins with several held reels is as good as a regular round gets. Treat it as a pleasant swing in a steady game, not something to chase.
Win Both Ways Across 10 Paylines
Starburst uses 10 fixed paylines, and they pay in both directions. A matching run can start on the leftmost reel and move right, or start on the rightmost reel and move left. That roughly doubles the chances of a line connecting compared with a classic left-to-right slot.
Both-ways pays also work well with expanding wilds. A wild covering a middle reel can complete lines from either side at once, which is why those spins feel livelier than the simple 5-reel layout suggests.
Because the paylines are fixed, you don't choose how many to activate. Your stake is spread across all 10, so the only decision is bet size. That suits players who want a quick, uncomplicated session.
Starburst RTP and Low Volatility Explained
RTP, or return to player, is the share of total stakes a slot is designed to pay back over a very long run of spins. It says nothing certain about one session. Volatility describes how those returns are spread: low means smaller wins arriving more often.

What low volatility means for your bankroll
With low volatility, your balance usually moves in small steps. That makes it easy to play with modest stakes for longer. The trade-off is the 500x cap: this isn't a slot to pick if you want the chance of an enormous hit. Set a deposit limit or time limit before you play, as both are available at the casino.
Symbols and Paytable: From Gems to Bars and Sevens
The symbol set is deliberately simple. You'll see coloured gems, a bar symbol and a red seven, plus the wild star. The gems make up the lower-paying symbols, while the bar and the seven sit at the top of the table.
- Gems: the most common symbols, with the smaller line payouts.
- Bar and seven: the higher-value classic symbols.
- Wild: the multicolour star that expands, substitutes and triggers a re-spin.
Exact payout values depend on your stake, so check the paytable inside the game window before you spin. It's usually one tap away from the info or menu button. The paytable shows how many matching symbols you need on a line for each win.
Playing Starburst on Mobile and Desktop at Lizaro
The slot is part of the wider library of NetEnt-style classics alongside newer releases, and you can browse other titles on the casino games page. Starburst is easy to find through the lobby search.
Mobile play
The casino has no dedicated app, but the site is mobile-responsive, so Starburst runs in a phone browser. The controls are simple enough for touchscreens. Details on mobile play are on the mobile play page.
Desktop play and bonuses
On desktop, the larger screen gives a clearer view of the paylines and the expanding wilds. If you're new, the welcome package is 350% up to €16,000 plus 350 free spins. Read the welcome offer terms first, as some bonuses restrict which games count or how big your bet can be.
FAQ
Does Starburst have a free spins round?
No. Starburst has no free spins feature and no bonus game. Its extras are expanding wilds and re-spins, which trigger during the base game. That simplicity is part of the appeal, and it keeps the gameplay quick and easy to follow.
How many re-spins can I trigger in Starburst?
Each expanding wild awards a re-spin, and the sequence can run up to three re-spins in a row. Wilds stay locked on their reels during that sequence. After the third re-spin, the game returns to normal spins.
Can I play Starburst in demo mode at Lizaro?
This guide can't confirm whether a demo version is offered, so check the game tile in the lobby for a demo or practice option. If there isn't one, you can still try small stakes. Low volatility makes that fairly easy to manage.
What is the RTP of Starburst?
The RTP is 96.09%, with low volatility. That's a long-term theoretical figure across a huge number of spins, not a promise for any single session. The maximum win is 500x the stake.
